About Sista! The Estrogen
Connection...
|
|
News:
23 March 2009:
The
Sista! blog
was launched. The purpose of this blog
is to track the progress of this major project.
24 March 2009: Join the
Sista! group on
Facebook.
May
& June 2009: I will be hitting the road to
photograph women with their Sistas. I plan on going as
far east as Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and as far southeast as
Lewiston, Idaho/Clarkston, Washington and as far
southwest as Vancouver, Washington/Portland, Oregon. The
trips will happen in May and June. If you are interested
in being a part of this project with the women who you
consider Sistas - please let me know. I'm rounding up
women for portraits and stories to be included in the
book and am hoping to fill these trips with shooting
sessions.
10 April 2009: The
Sista!
project packet is completed and released to women
who are considering participation in the project. |

Sista details
the emotional bonds that develop between women - The Estrogen
Connection. This connection can develop between biological
sisters, best friends, or women who share a common link (i.e.
breast cancer survivors, menopause, knitting, motherhood, etc.).
The project is expected to be a year-long expedition in
exploring and celebrating the positive and supportive
connections women make with each other.

Photo Sessions: |
|
Photo sessions will
not be studio-based. Instead, portraits will be more
casual in approach and preferably in the environment
where the estrogen connection with your Sistas can best
be seen. This could be during lunch in your home or
restaurant, while watching a movie, or even while
shopping. Sessions can easily be done at the playground
where you gather with your Sistas, while your kids play,
or while trying on wedding dresses, with all your
Sistas gathered around to give their opinions.
There really are no
limits, and I will simply blend into the background and
photograph as you and your Sistas do your thing.
The point of the project isn't to intrude and/or become
a part of the moment but to step back and allow me to
observe what you would normally do and how you would
normally act.
